We are couple of middle aged semi retirees who are old enough to remember the Miller beer ad that inspired the website name...

After spending over 30 years in the corporate world of Design and Human resources we are throwing in and taking a 'Gap Year(s)'to follow our passion for travel and discovery.

We have had a fortunate life with opportunities traveled extensively  for both work and pleasure and even though we have been to over 50 countries, the reality is, when we sit down with an atlas, or these days google earth, there is so much more left to explore
As kids both our parents would take us on caravanning holidays exploring WA and Australia, in fact Pete was 5 when in 1970 his family undertook an epic ‘around Australia, tour in an old land rover and a dinky caravan. Then as young teenagers our parents took us to Europe! These experiences growing up cursed us both with the desire to explore the world and discovery its extraordinary stories.

In 1986, with the assistance of Pete’s brother, our paths merged and the travel bug blossomed. We spent 3 months backpacking through Europe (Pete actually got credits toward his architectural degree...go figure). We knew then that Australia was not going to pin us down.
In 1993 we got married in Perth, had our reception at Perth airport, and our wedding night in Bangkok- on our way to London (via Moscow) where we lived for three years. During that time we took every opportunity to discover Europe and the UK
Returning to Perth we tried to settle in as best we could though travel had changed us permanently and after a few years building careers and dreaming of our next adventure Pete was given the opportunity to go to Thailand for a few weeks to help the office up there build their hospitality experience... Well a few weeks turned into a few months which turned in the opportunity for both of us to move for a few years.  14 years later Thailand is still home, or at least home base.

Thailand provided opportunities to really explore South East Asia and beyond from Maldives to Malaysia, Mongolia to well you name it Japan, Korea, Burma...
Now, in late 2018, we are doing what we always dreamed of, putting our careers on hold to see the rest of the Planet.
In 2019 after a quick sojourn to Japan we head off on the first of many ‘trips of a lifetime’
Our departure is Bangkok and our arrival will be Cape Town.
We will have no set plans and, for the first time ever, no time restraints... just dots on maps we want to see. The only rule we have given ourselves is NO planes. Train, bus, bike, boat, camel all good, just no planes!
